I am sick like death.

I ended up getting Jon's cold, only it seems to have multiplied and expanded before attacking my head. It is evil. In fact, this cold is an evil doer. I'm not medicated, just trying to sleep it off. I almost made it through work yesterday, but had to take a nap at 2pm and then didn't get much done after that. Today is totally pointless. I had to get a deliverable out and sit in on a conference call staff meeting, but then I'm back to bed. I'll have my bottle of water, orange juice, and life saver candies by my side.

Blerg.

My honey's got an art show...

JON LEW SOLO EXHIBITION AT JOYENGINE

Jon Lew will be showing “Two Feet Under” - A year in review, at JoyEngine on Friday, January, 25th. Jon’s been nose to the grindstone putting his show together for a number of months now and the work looks great. If you’re not familiar with Jon, he’s a tattoo artist and illustrator with excellent craft and concept. His work typically resides in a very socio-political context and often makes us laugh. We can’t wait to have John in our house. Symmetry will be on the decks (for real this time) and we’ll be rockin’ cocktails. Hope to see you!!!

Knitting in the new year

I have been in a knitting slump since Christmas. I made so many things for my family and friends that I think I got a little burned out. Especially when I learned half the hats I made didn't even fit the recipients! Alas, I tried, and really, I'm still a beginner. But, it's time to start anew. And I'm going to tackle those hats!

First project, very easy, shouldn't take more than two evenings:



From Smariek Knits. For those of you not in the know, it's Jayne Cobb's hat, from the Firefly episode "The Message." It's for Jon's friend Dura who requested it late last year. I thought he was joking, but no. He harassed me about it during a recent "American Gladiators"-watching party. I have made a hat with earflaps before, but I'll be using a different technique this time, one involving picking up stitches, which is not my forte. I'll also have to learn how to make a pom-pom for the top. Fun!

Second project, a little more time consuming, and a little harder:



A Transformers Toque! From Yes I Made That. Also for Jon's friend, but this time Damon. Both Damon and Dura helped feed our fish while we were in Japan so I think it would be nice to make them something.

But...like I said...the vim and vigor for knitting has waned. I'm hoping to spark the fire again with some new projects. I was working on the previously mentioned top-secret project, but Sophie found my ball of beautiful yarn and unraveled it. This yarn is very delicate so I'm dreading re-winding the whole thing. Dang dog. She also ate my cookies...

Christmas dogs

Here are a few pictures of my dogs over Christmas. Jon's mom took them while they stayed with her. They are so cute!

I hate commercials

We've been home now for about three days and life is back to normal. Back to work. Back to walking the dogs. Back to cooking dinners.

Yesterday I was crazy tired and came home from work at lunch to take a nap. I worked from home the rest of the afternoon and today. I feel almost back to normal today but I need to sleep just a little more.

The dogs are fabulous. It was so great to see them when we came home! Sophie was so excited she just kept running around and jumping up on us. Tucker was more mellow, as is his way, but he would not leave my side the rest of the evening. They are just so great. Carol loved having them at her house and everyone got along really well. She is a lifesaver for us when we have to go out of town.

Now I'm at home, brisket cooking in the slow cooker (yeah, I'm so domestic), dogs sleeping in the living room...it's good. I've started on my next knitting project but it's top secret. I can say the yarn is loooovely and so nice to work with. Silk mohair blend, I think. Delightful.

I wish Sophie was easier to photograph because she is just so cute. Sadly, she has decided it is fun to run from the camera. The cell phone camera is the only way to capture her adorableness, but that hardly counts. Especially right now! She's sleeping in a little ball on the corner of the couch, her hair all long and fuzzy. She looks like a little teddy bear. Oh, I love my little dog. Tucker does not run from the camera, but he also never does anything other than sleep and fart. That, my friens, as not as fun to capture on film.

We're home!

We made it home. Jetlag is killing me and I'm totally useless at work. Sadly, I have an enourmous pile of things to do before Friday.

Back to life, I suppose.
