Up High

Jon's future tattoo shop website is live. http://www.fortunecookietattoo.com/. Nothing big yet--just a placeholder--but still, it's cool.

Evelyn has been giving us a run lately. She is crawling everywhere (in a weird side-push-crawl action), pulling herself up on everything, and standing by herself. I have seen her contemplate a solo step, but she isn't going that far just yet. She is perfectly content to let us walk her around wherever she wants to go. Which is usually the bookcase of DVDs that she loves to pull off the shelf. Our little independent girl. She also likes to play patty-cake with her grandma Lew (but not anyone else), can recognize the word "bunny" for one of her stuffed animals, and has started playing a fun game called Up High where you put your hands above your head and say "up high!" and then she does the same. Good, clean fun here at the Lew household.

She also has discovered that she can roll over in her crib, sit up, stand up, and jump on the mattress. This has made nap times and bedtime a lot more difficult. I don't know if or when the novelty of this newfound freedom will wear off, but any day now would be fine with me.

I made red velvet cake this weekend and it was YUM! Luckily we had some friends over to eat half the cake, otherwise I would eat the whole thing myself. This Thursday we are heading to Sacramento for an exciting weekend with the Grandparents Small. I am so excited to see them, and my bro Tom, who is driving up from L.A. (Cross your fingers that his rickety old truck makes it all the way!) I know Evelyn will be the real star; no one will believe how big she has gotten. Perhaps, though, I will make my delicious red velvet cake for everyone and give Evie a run for her money! Ha!

But I digress. There are about 70 things on my to-do list between now and Thursday morning. I should probably write all that down so I don't forget to, say, buy the dogs some food. Yes, lists are good for the sleep-deprived brain.
